Alex Hanlon

Alex Hanlon is a co-founder and CEO of Engine No. 2, a digital transformation agency serving healthcare professionals in Australia. Engine No. 2 helps clinicians and business owners understand and access technology through education, virtual CTO On Demand services and boutique advisory. Using her extensive skills in organisational transformation, Alex empowers patient-facing clinicians to imagine a bigger future where technology elevates their delivery of healthcare outcomes.
Bringing over 20 years of experience in IT, property, finance and strategic business management, Alex was responsible for delivering the post-earthquake recovery programme for the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. The recovery included the repair and consolidation of core services, aligning IT with strategic priorities and initiating a digital transformation.
A voracious “people person” and a keen student of humanity, Alex has a degree in Political Science from the University of New South Wales.
She is a board member of charities she actively supports, including the New Zealand Child Cancer Foundation and is Co-Chair of Reconciliation Queensland. Alex is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Institute of Digital Health and is a Resolution Institute accredited mediator.
